Junior Ray Lowe

Mr. Junior Ray Lowe, 70, of Mount Airy, passed away Wednesday, February 4, 2009, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mr. Lowe was born September 3, 1938, in Surry County, to James Howard and Lucy Durham Lowe. He served our country in the United States Navy and was the owner and operator of Lowes Jewelry in Pilot Mountain. Mr. Lowe was a member of Maple Springs Baptist Church. Surviving are a daughter, Cheryl Lowe of the home; a son, James A. Lowe of Hamptonville; two grandchildren, Abigail Lowe and Matthew Lowe; a sister and brother-in-law, Thelma and Bobby Kennington of Lancaster, SC; a brother and sister-in-law, Floyd and Sara Lowe of Mount Airy; a sister-in-law, Grace Lowe of Salisbury; and a brother-in-law, Donald Rachels of Ararat, VA. In addition to his parents, Mr. Lowe was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian Rachels Lowe; and a brother, Russell Lowe. The funeral service will be held Saturday, February 7, 2009, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Eugene Sherrill and the Rev. Woody Flippen officiating. Burial will follow in the Holly Springs Baptist Church Cemetery, with military honors by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. The family may be contacted at other times at the home of Floyd Lowe, 134 Preston Lane, Mount Airy.
