Katherine Amelia Bledsoe

Katherine Amelia "Katie" Bledsoe was granted her angel wings on Tuesday morning, January 6, 2015, at her home, following an acute illness. Katie was born July 25, 1991, in Surry County, the oldest child and only daughter born to Randy Gilbert and Sharon Lewis Bledsoe. Katie graduated from Surry Central High School in 2013. She was a faithful member of Piney Grove Baptist Church and was dedicated to the Special Friends Ministry. Her beautiful smile always brightened a room and it could melt the hearts of those around her. Katie was always positive. She always had a song to sing and most likely wanted someone to sing with her. In addition to her loving parents, Katie is survived by a brother, Kendal Bryce Bledsoe of the home; her maternal grandparents, Norma and Fred Miller and Lonnie and Pam Lewis, all of Dobson; her paternal grandmother, Mary Bledsoe of Dobson; several aunts and uncles; numerous cousins; and many special friends. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Gilbert Bledsoe. A service of worship and celebration of Katie's life will be held Friday, January 9, 2015, at 2:00 PM at Piney Grove Baptist Church, with the Rev. Mark A. Reece, Jr., the Rev. Kermit L. Gray, and the Rev. Carlton S. McDaniel, Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Piney Grove Baptist Church. The family may also be contacted at the Bledsoe home, 146 Promise Lane, Dobson. Flowers will be accepted, or contributions in her memory can be given to Moody-Davis Funeral Home, P.O. Box 295, Dobson, NC 27017, to assist the family with the funeral expenses. With Katie's passing, we remind others that her life is one to be celebrated.
