Katherine Lynn Tabor, age 67, of Stuart, VA, formerly of Bluefield, VA, died Friday, December 23, 2022. She was born on January 11, 1955, to the late Alvie and Doris Tabor. She graduated from Graham High School in 1973 and went on to attend Virginia Tech. Her degrees from Virginia Tech included a bachelor’s, master’s, and CAGS in education, guidance, and administration. She remained an avid Hokie fan for the rest of her life. Kathy was a dedicated educator throughout her career, working in Virginia, Ohio, and West Virginia. After retirement, she continued her love of education by working with her niece and nephew when schools were closed because of COVID. While living in Bluefield, VA, Kathy was active at First United Methodist Church and Virginia Avenue United Church. Following her retirement and move to Stuart, Kathy was a member of Stuart Presbyterian Church and loved volunteering for many church activities. She was a devout Christian, and her actions always reflected her faith. This faith carried her through her battle with cancer.
Those left to cherish her memory are her brother Tom Tabor and his wife, Susan, three nephews Drew, Nik, and Alex, three great-nephews, Max, Charlie, and Amyn, and one great niece, Macie, all of Stuart, VA. An aunt, Mrs. Dave Amburn (Barbara) is also left to cherish her memory. She was blessed to have many wonderful friends that became family over the years. Special to the entire family are two “sisters”, Pam Lester and Brenda Ayers of Richlands, VA. There are many cousins that she also loved. Kathy also had two “fur babies”, Baylee and Dixie Belle who she loved dearly.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Moody Funeral Services in Stuart has been entrusted with the arrangements and online condolences may be made by visiting www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
