Kathleen Galloway Smith

Mrs. Kathleen Galloway Smith, age 89, of Mt. Airy, passed away on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at home on her beloved hill top.  She was born on May 6, 1934 in Randolph County to the late Nolan and Ione Moore Galloway.  Mrs. Smith was a retired School Teacher.  She loved her family, especially her grandkids and great-grandkids.  She was an avid Gardner.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will surely  be missed by all who knew her.  Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 69 years, Norman Lee Smith; daughters, Toni Voorhies (Rodger), Donna Callaghan (John); sons, Michael Smith, Keith Smith (Diane); grandchildren, Eve Smith, Zane Smith, Jackson Hammond, Caroline Hammond, Kyle Hammond, Willa Voorhies, Emily Voorhies, Anna Jones, Jessica Smith, as well as five great-grandchildren; brother, Marvin Galloway, numerous nieces, and nephews.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jessica Callaghan; brother, Nolan Galloway.  The family will receive friends at their home at 180 Snapdragon Lane, Mt. Airy, NC., 27030 on Tuesday, April 30, 2024 from 2pm-6pm.  In lieu of flowers please consider donating online in honor of Mrs. Smith to St. Jude’s Children's Hospital.
