Kathryn Lynn Barnes Gwyn

Mrs. Kathryn Lynn “Kathy” Barnes Gwyn, 67, of Boonville, passed away Tuesday morning, July 29, 2025, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mrs. Gwyn was born January 30, 1958, in Forsyth County, the daughter of the late Roy Wilbur and Ida Mae Donathan Barnes. Kathy spent many years working as a knitter at Kentucky Derby Hosiery and later as a cook at Central Care. She is survived by her husband, Tommy Wayne Gwyn; two sons, Joshua Marlin Jones and Billy Spencer Freeman, Jr.; a stepdaughter, Jessica Renee Gwyn; a stepson, David Wayne Gwyn; several grandchildren; a sister, Brenda Hutchins; three brothers and a sister-in-law, Gary and Diane Barnes, Randy Barnes, and Mark Barnes; a sister-in-law, Nancy Gwyn; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gwyn was preceded in death by a son, Dathan Roy Jones; a stepdaughter, Jennifer Ann Gwyn; a sister, Barbara Reynolds; a brother, Jerry Barnes; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Oscar Buford “Bill” and Eva Jean Galyean Gwyn; and two brothers-in-law, Randy Gwyn and Michael Gwyn. In accordance with her wishes, there will be no formal visitation or service. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
