Kay Frances Nichols

Miss Kay Nichols, 81 of Mt. Airy passed away at her home Tuesday, December 22, 2015. She was born in Surry County in 1934 to the late John Leland and Mabel Childress Nichols. Miss Nichols graduated from Franklin High and continued her education throughout her career in nursing. She retired as a nurse anesthetist from Broward General Hospital in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. She is survived by sisters and a brother-in-law, Pearl Nichols Page and Randy of Chapel Hill, Mary Nichols Smith of Cana, Nellie Childress Perdue of Mt. Airy, a brother, Albert Nichols of Pilot Mountain, a brother-in-law, Bob Thompson of Mt. Airy and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews; special friends, Billie Sorter and Jennie Poore both of FL and Margie Simpson Marion. In addition to her parents, Miss Nichols was preceded in death by a sister, Doris Nichols Thompson. Services will be held at 12:00 noon Saturday, December 26, 2015 at White Plains Friends Meeting. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 11:00 AM until the time of the service.
