Tony Gray Atkins

Mr. Tony Gray Atkins, age 71, of Turkey Ford, passed away on Saturday, March 7th, 2026 at Northern Regional Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Atkins was born on June 23, 1954, in Surry County, to the late Ivan Harding and Hessie Eads Atkins. Tony was a loving husband, brother, uncle and friend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Janet Kidd Atkins; his sister Linda Atkins Harris; a niece, Angela and Johnny Collins; and three great nephews, Ethan Marvin and Kayla Beavers, Jared Marvin, and Matthew Collins; and special friends, the Hudson and Danley families. Tony was a farmer by trade. He enjoyed playing golf and hunting. Tony was also a professional musician, playing banjo and touring the United States with Freddy Fender and Stella Parton.

Visitation will be Tuesday, March 10, 2026, from 6:00-8:00 PM, at Moody-Davis Funeral Service in Dobson. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at New Home Church of Christ, with Pastor Tanner Hudson officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
