Mr. Kenneth Lee Smith, age 67, of Mount Airy, passed away at his residence on Monday, September 15, 2025, with his loving family by his side. Mr. Smith was born in Forsyth County on May 26, 1958, to the late Charles Fitzhugh Smith Jr., and Catherine Southern James. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, sibling, and mentor within the community, who will be dearly missed by the many that knew him. Mr. Smith worked many years with John S. Clark as a superintendent. He was known as a minister within the Maple Grove Church Road community, whether he was witnessing to others, or delivering meals to the needy. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 45 years, Donna Griffin Smith; children, Scotty Lee Smith and Stephanie Thomas, Donna Marie Smith-Reid; grandchildren, Alex Smith, Maisie Rhae Reid, Kyra Smith; brothers and sister-in-law,  Johnny Smith, Billy Smith and Betty; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Money and Manford, Etta Smith; beloved stepmother, Joyce Carpenter Smith; two special nieces who helped with his end of life care and many other things, Brandy Smith, Kelsey Utt; many bonus children who passed through his home over the years, Daniel Sexton, Jackie Leonard, Jeff Stowers, Elijah Thomas, Justin Cooke, Kelsie Sexton, Cherie Cooke, Maleya Davis. In addition to his parents, Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his son-in-law, John Paul Reid; brothers and sister-in-law, Charles “Bobby” Smith, Michael Smith, Phyllis Smith; mother and father-in-law, Marylene Puckett Griffin and Donald Ray Griffin. Per Mr. Smith’s request there will not be any formal services held at this time. The family will hold a celebration of life service at a later date. They will receive friends at the family home 600 Maple Grove Church Road, Mount Airy, NC 27030. Moodys of Mount Airy is respectfully serving the Smith family.
