Kevin Dale Simmons

Mr. Kevin Dale “PaPaw” Simmons, age 51 of Mount Airy went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday April 2, 2024, surrounded by his loving family and friends at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson.  Kevin was born December 8, 1972, in Surry County to Sue Pennix Draughn and the late DJ “Dickie” Simmons.  He was a graduate of the Class of 1991 at North Surry High School and was an avid Duke Blue Devils fan.  Kevin was selfless man who loved his family and friends and was always up for a laugh.  He knew his Lord and was ready to share his love at a moment’s notice.  Kevin is survived by his wife of nearly 31 years, Lauren Elizabeth Leach Simmons of the home; his children, Dalton and Melissa Simmons, Zachary and Alyssa Simmons, and Abby Simmons; grandchildren, EllieAnne and Eliam Simmons, and Bennett Roy Simmons; mother and stepfather, Sue and Tommy Draughn; brother and sister-in-law, Keith and Katie Simmons; niece, Ella Simmons; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Walter and Sara Leach.   Funeral services will be held on Saturday April 6, 2024, at Community Baptist Church at 3:00pm.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The Simmons family will receive friends at Community Baptist Church on Saturday from 1:00 – 3:00pm.  The family would like to thank everyone who has helped in any way towards Kevin’s care and the comfort of him and his family.  Memorial donations may be made to Community Baptist Church, C/O Pam Sewell, 198 Delaware Avenue, Mount Airy, NC 27030.  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
