Larry “Junior” Hill, age 78, of Center Point, Alabama, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2026. Born on November 30, 1947, in Stuart, Virginia, he was the beloved son of the late George Winfred Hill and Carrie Isabel France-Hill.

Larry proudly served his country in the United States Army and was a Vietnam veteran. After his military service, he dedicated his life to caring for others and worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant at R.J. Reynolds Hospital. Throughout his career, he was also employed by Rubber Thread, Fieldcrest, and Westinghouse before spending 20 years as a professional driver with Boyd Brothers, where he retired.

Above all else, Larry treasured his family. He found great joy in spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. One of his favorite pastimes was teaching his grandchildren how to drive the tractor. His warm smile, gentle spirit, quiet wisdom, and unwavering love created cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. Larry also enjoyed hunting, fishing, listening to music, and traveling.

On June 10, 1967, Larry married the love of his life, Bettie Ruth Hill. Together they shared 54 wonderful years of marriage and built a loving family.

He leaves to cherish his memory his five children: Larry Donnell Hill (Rebecca) of Mesa, AZ, Cynthia Kaye Hill (Yvette) of Kernersville, NC, Wanda Salena Hill-Johnson (Shawndell) of Martinsville, VA, Kimberly Evette Johnson of Martinsville, VA, and Winfred Durrane Hill (Carrie) of Critz, VA.

He is also survived by his siblings: Gary George Hill (Eliane) of Stuart, Virginia; Carolyn M. Hill-Anderson of Wilmington, Delaware; Roger Dale Hill (Rita); Shelby Jean McCray of Durham, North Carolina; and Regina Lou Hill of Richmond, Virginia.

Larry was a proud grandfather to 19 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George Winfred Hill and Carrie Isabel France-Hill. Larry’s life was a testament to faith, hard work, service, and love for his family. Though he will be deeply missed, his legacy will continue to live on through the many lives he touched.

A memorial service for Mr. Hill will be held on Sunday, July 19, 2026, at 2:00p.m. at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Stuart, VA with Elder Melton Roberson officiating. The family will receive friends thirty minutes prior to the service at the funeral home. Military rites will be provided by the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard.
