Larry Dale Moody, Sr

Mr. Larry Dale Moody, Sr., 68, of Lowgap, passed away Tuesday, September 22, 2015, at Golden Living Center in Mount Airy. Mr. Moody was born December 11, 1946, in Haywood County, the son of the late Hillard Elijah Moody and Mary Helen Davis Fields. Larry served our country in the United State Navy during the Vietnam War. He later retired as a security guard from Dunbar Securities in Maryland and attended Holy Angels Catholic Church in Mount Airy. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Bolen of the home; a daughter, Jennifer Capps of Chesapeake Beach, MD; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Larry Dale Moody, Jr. and Maria Moody of Annapolis, MD, and Brian Andrew Moody of Chesapeake Beach, MD; a stepdaughter, Christina Wilson of Pasadena, MD; a stepson, Christopher Bolen of Hagerstown, MD; nine grandchildren; a sister, Sandra Rhodes of Lowgap; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Danny and Henrietta Moody of Niagara Falls, NY, and Charles and Mary Ann Aiken of Lowgap. The funeral service will be held Saturday, September 26, 2015, at 9:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with Father Lawrence W. Heiney officiating. Interment will follow in the Surry County Veterans Cemetery, with military honors conducted by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
