Mrs. Laura Hattaway Gardner age 84 of Brown Summit and formally of Mt. Airy passed away Monday night June 18, 2012 at the home of her daughter. Mrs. Gardner was born April 20, 1928 in Dry Prong, LA. To the late Wesley and Edith Simmons Hattaway, she was retired from Proctor Silex and was of the Catholic Faith. Surviving are four daughters and sons-in-law Debbie Ridner of Blanco, TX, Crystal Brown and husband Ken of Brown Summit, Sheri Gardner Overman and husband Gregg of South Haven, MS. and Dee Ann Matos and husband Leonel of Melbourne, FL. two sons Don Viator of Fort Davis, TX. and Bruce Gardner of Tiioga, LA , ten grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, three sisters Pauline Futrell and Iva Jean Defreco both of Dry Prong, LA. And Jewel Floyd of Houston, TX. and by one brother Leonard Ray "Pop" Hattaway of Dry Prong, LA. In addition to her parents Mrs. Gardner was preceded in death by her husband Buddy James Gardner and by four brothers and one sister. Funeral services will be held Friday June 22, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mt. Airy with services conducted by Mr. Tom Graf with burial to follow in the Pine Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday night 6 to 8 P.M. at the Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy, NC.
