Lavoy Jefferson Hill

Mr. Lavoy Jefferson Hill, 78, of Mount Airy, passed away Wednesday morning, December 25, 2013, at Golden Living Center. Mr. Hill was born May 13, 1935, in Carroll County, VA, the son of the late Wilferd Emmett and Nina Bowman Hill. Lavoy retired from hotel management and was a member of Sky View Missionary Baptist Church in Fancy Gap, VA. He is survived by his former wife, Mildred Edwards Sparks of Galax, VA; a daughter, Ginger Sue Hill Logar of Winston-Salem; a son and daughter-in-law, Urchel Lavoy and Marcia Hill of Advance; five grandchildren, Faleshia Logar of Imperial, PA, Jeffrey Hill of North Wilkesboro, Maranda Hill Brown and her husband, Juston, of Mocksville, Brian Hill of Advance, and Brittany Hill of Raleigh; a sister, Linda Hill Edwards of Monument, OR; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Delton and Betty Hill of Aubrey, TX, and Ronald and Sandra Hill of Hillsville, VA; four nieces; and two nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hill was preceded in death by a brother, Clifford Hill. The funeral service will be held Friday, December 27, 2013, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Wendell Horton officiating. Burial will follow in the Semones Family Cemetery. There will be no formal visitation at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Sky View Missionary Baptist Church Building Fund, 129 Skyview Drive, Fancy Gap, VA 24328.
