Lena Mae Wright Turner

Lena Mae Wright Turner, age 71 of Patrick Springs, Virginia, passed away Monday, September 9, 2013 at the Stratford Rehabilitation Center in Danville, Virginia after many months of declining health. She was born in Patrick County on November 9, 1941, and was a daughter to the late Edgar Rudolph Wright and Vera Mae Harris Wright. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Wright Hollandsworth and Clara Wright. She was retired from R. J. Reynolds Patrick County Memorial Hospital after 27 years of service and a previous member of the Blue Ridge Civil Air Patrol. Mrs. Turner was a member of the Pleasant View Baptist Church of Patrick Springs for over 50 years. A loving wife, mother, and grandmother, Mrs. Turner loved to travel with her husband of 55 years. She also loved to travel the Blue Ridge Parkway and count deer and other wildlife.
Mrs. Turner is survived by her husband, Denzil Aaron Turner of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Glenda Turner Burge and husband, Ronald R. Burge of Danville, Virginia and Stacey Turner Prince and husband, Sean P. Prince of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; two grandchildren, Megan Burge Patterson and husband, Michael B. Patterson of Apex, North Carolina and Leanna Rose Prince of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; four sisters, Jane Wright Holiday of Stuart, Virginia, Barbara Wright Plasters and husband, Coy Plasters of Bassett, Virginia, Bonnie Wright Hancock and husband, Leon Hancock of Sanville, Virginia, and Wilma Wright Craig of Stuart, Virginia; one brother, Edgar Leon Wright and wife, Pat of Bassett, Virginia; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
After lying-in-state for one hour, funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at Pleasant View Baptist Church in Patrick Springs, Virginia with Pastor Rick Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant View Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart.
