Leona Mae Thompson

Mrs. Leona Mae Haymore Thompson, of Mount Airy, passed away on December 18, 2018.  She was born in Surry County to Virgil Lee and Geneva Samuel Haymore.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister.  Surviving is her husband, Daymond Thompson; a daughter and son-in-law, Robin and Kenneth Peavy; a son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Tammy Severt Thompson; grandchildren, Nicholas Peavy, Sydney Anne Peavy, and Mariella Thompson; a sister, Remona Haymore Goins; a brother, Joe Bill Haymore; a nephew Edward Lee Goins; dear friends, many nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, and brothers-in-law.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Thompson was preceded in death by infant sons, Mitchell Thompson, Timothy Thompson and Jerry Thompson and by a brother, Wesley Haymore.  Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Friday, December 21, 2018 at New Charity Church with the Rev. Hank Robertson and Rev. Buford Jessup officiating. Burial will be private and there will not be a formal visitation.
