Leroy Jackson Guynn

Mr. Leroy Jackson Guynn, 85, of Cana, VA, passed away Sunday morning, January 7, 2024, at Galax Health and Rehabilitation Center in Galax, VA.  Mr. Guynn was born March 19, 1938, in Carroll County, VA, the youngest of five children born to the late Jackson and Dilly “Dill” McMillian Guynn.  Leroy attended Flint Hill School as a child, but he quit at an early age to help support his family.  He farmed all his life, and he also worked as a truck driver in the latter part of his life.  Leroy was a Christian and a member of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church for more than 50 years.  He is survived by four daughters and two sons-in-law, Darlene and Clayton McMillian, Garlene Guynn, Teresa and Mike Saville, and Amy Dalton (Ricky); a son and daughter-in-law, Freddie and JoAnn Guynn; his grandchildren, Kimberly Guynn, Patricia and Matthew Nunn, Michael Saville, Kathleen Saville, Brandi and Adam Stanley, Brianna Dalton, and Lincoln Tollie; his great-grandchildren, Zachery Guynn, Brayden Stanley, Ariel Saville, Arabella Stanley, and Zach Saville; several nieces and nephews; a special friend, Rick Hall; and his canine companion, Toby.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Guynn was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Emaline Ayers Guynn; a grandchild, Amanda McMillian; two sisters, Esther Allen and Janice Hiatt; and two brothers, Alfred Guynn and Emmett Guynn.  A graveside service will be held Thursday, January 11, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Isreal Gwyn officiating.  No formal visitation will be held.  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
