Leslie Brooke (Sumner) Parkes

Mrs. Leslie Brooke Sumner Parkes, age 43 of Mount Airy passed away on Wednesday, December 25, 2024, at Atrium Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, after a lengthy battle with cancer. Brooke was born on November 27, 1981, in Surry County to John and Regina McCrary Sumner. Brooke was a loving daughter, mother, sister, and friend. She will be deeply missed by all who loved her. Surviving are her daughters, Summer Rain Goins and her guardians, Rev. Tony Goins and wife Kim; Jessie LeAnn Parkes and her guardians, Steven Bruner and wife Kendra, step daughter, Kaly Parkes, Marilyn Day Leftwich and her father and her guardians, Chad Leftwich and Tommy Leftwich and wife Phyllis; her parents, John and Regina McCrary Sumner; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Chase Sumner and wife Kayla, Morgan Gwynn; a niece Bella Sumner; two nephews, Bentley Sumner, Liam Gwynn; and her maternal grandmother, Laura McCrary. Mrs. Parkes was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Jessie “Glenn” McCrary; and her paternal grandparents, Clarence and Verlie Sumner. No formal services will be held at this time. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice in Brooke’s memory. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy has been entrusted with the arrangements.
