Mrs. Lettie Jean Edwards Haunn, 91, of Mount Airy, passed away peacefully at her home early Wednesday morning, June 10, 2026. Mrs. Haunn was born January 27, 1935, in Surry County, one of seven children born to the late Claude and Ernestine Ayers Edwards. Lettie worked for many years at Proctor-Silex Inc., and later as a biscuit maker at Hardee’s Restaurant on Rockford Street. She is survived by three daughters and a son-in-law, Jeannie Hiatt, Esther and Rodney Ayers, and Rogjeana Haunn; her grandchildren, Roger and Brenda Hiatt, Harley Hiatt, Lori and Zack Keith, Summer and Bradley Nolen, and Blaine Ayers; her great-grandchildren, Bryson Keith, Colton Keith, Kristen Keith, Madison Keith, Daisy Hiatt, Brooklyn Hiatt, Skyler Hiatt, and Sammi Hall; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Joy and Billy Bobbitt and Opal Slate; a brother and sister-in-law, Roy Lee and Judy Edwards; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Haunn was preceded in death by her first husband, Ernest Johnson; her second husband, William Roger Haunn; an infant sister, Mildred Edwards; and two brothers, Reece Edwards and Henry Edwards. The funeral service will be held Saturday, June 13, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Arlis Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in the Maple Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at the funeral home. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude for the love, care, and compassion shown by the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, especially her nurse, Amy Belton, for her kindness and devoted support. The family also extends special appreciation to Mary Shelton for being a caring neighbor, faithful friend, and source of loving encouragement. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, P.O. Box 325, Dobson, NC 27017.
