Mr. Lewis Scott Graham, 64, of 316 Grace Street, Mount Airy, passed away Thursday, January 2, 2014, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mr. Graham was born December 31, 1949, in Iredell County, to the late Lewis Scott Graham, Sr. and Connie Bau Graham. Scott graduated from R.J. Reynolds High School, and he went on to graduate from Elon University and Wake Forest Babcock School of Business. Scott served in the United States Marine Reserves. He worked for Vulcan Materials until 1983, and then he became the owner and operator of Virginia and Carolina Paving until 1998. After his retirement, Scott ran for commissioner for the City of Mount Airy and won that seat which he has held for the past two years. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Kristie English Graham of the home; a daughter, Sara Graham Key and her husband, Marc, of Mount Airy; a son, Luke Graham and his wife, Ashley, of Mount Airy; three grandchildren, Ryan Graham, Addison Key, and Griffin Key, all of Mount Airy; a sister, Carol Eakin of Kill Devil Hills; and a brother, Conrad Graham and his wife, Betty Allen, of Winston-Salem. The funeral service will be held Saturday, January 4, 2014, at 2:00 PM at Flat Rock Baptist Church, with Dr. Jon Cawley and the Rev. Robert McCrary officiating. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Saturday from 12:00 PM until 1:30 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy, at which time they will go to the church for the service.
