Mrs. Libby Denise George Hodges, 58, of Mount Airy, passed away early Wednesday morning, May 14, 2025, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mrs. Hodges was born June 19, 1966, in Guilford County, one of three children born to the late Arvil Samuel and Ruby Elizabeth East George. Libby dedicated her life to caring for her family and creating a warm, welcoming home. As a housewife, she took great pride in the countless little things that made everyday life special. Her nurturing spirit, unwavering support, and gentle kindness were the foundation of her home and the heart of her family. A devoted certified medical assistant and phlebotomist, Libby dedicated her career to caring for others, not only through her skilled hands but through her warm heart. With a gentle demeanor and a sincere smile, she had a gift for making her patients feel seen, heard, and valued. Whether it was a reassuring word before a blood draw or a quiet moment of compassion in a busy clinic, Libby built lasting connections that touched the lives of countless individuals. She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Jimmy Steven Hodges; two daughters and a son-in-law, Brooke and Max Cherry and Stevie Hodges; a son and daughter-in-law, B.J. and Jamie Hodges; five grandchildren, Phoenix Cherry, Maverick Cherry, Arya Whitaker, Lily-May Whitaker, and Kai Hodges; a sister and brother-in-law, Penny and Tim Gammons; a brother and sister-in-law, Orville Samuel George, Jr. and Gretchen; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hodges was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Penelope Whitaker. A service of worship and celebration of Libby’s life will be held Saturday, May 17, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Jason Johnson and the Rev. Mike Martin officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday from 12:30 until 2:00 PM at the funeral home.
