Linda Irine Handy Hopkins

Mrs. Linda Irine Handy Hopkins, age 80 of Meadows of Dan, Virginia passed away peacefully at Heritage Hall Laurel Meadows Nursing Home on Friday, September 18, 2026. She was born in Patrick County on September 9, 1946, to the late Louis Thomas Handy and Clara Adeline Pendleton Handy. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Guy Robert Handy. Linda enjoyed making crafts, especially Christmas ornaments. She always had a smile on her face and never said anything bad about anyone. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, adoring grandmother, caring sister, aunt, and friend.

Left to cherish the memories of Linda are her husband of 57 years, Elwood Hopkins; one son, Ernest Elwood Hopkins (Tracey) of Meadows of Dan, VA; two grandchildren, India Nicole Hopkins of Axton, VA and Lowell Thomas Hopkins of Meadows of Dan, VA; three brothers, Glen Handy (Shirley) of Stuart, VA, Larry Handy of Yakima, WA, and Hassell Handy (Linda) of Critz, VA; three brothers-in-law, Clyde Hopkins (Polly) of Cana, VA, Don Hopkins of Bassett, VA, and Lowell Hopkins (Ethel) of Meadows of Dan, VA; and two nieces, Sherry Lynn Handy of Bassett, VA and Cheryl Renee Handy of Stuart, VA.

The funeral service for Mrs. Hopkins will be held on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Elder Lowell Hopkins and Elder Carlton Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Russell Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:45 a.m. until 1:45 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
