Mr. Lloyd William "Buck" Greenwood, age 84 of Elkin passed away peacefully on Sunday June 14, 2015 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in York County, PA. on December 8, 1930 to the late John Frank and Gladys Flaharty Greenwood and was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Greenwood was a retired self-employed painter and a veteran of the United States Navy having served our country during the Korean War Those left to cherish his memory are his loving and devoted children, Colene and husband Jerry Newman, Donna Greenwood Phillips and Flynt and wife Tracy Greenwood, all of Elkin; eight beloved grandchildren, Justin Sloan, Darren Greenwood, Shannon Martin, Sandy Johnson, Jeff Phillips, Seth Greenwood, Missy Greenwood and John Snow; his "only" great-grandchild, Hannah Greenwood; a sister-in-law, Pat Greenwood of Red Line, PA; and a special friend, Jackie Chrismon, of Dobson. In addition to his parents, Mr. Greenwood was preceded in death by his loving wife of 55 years, Allie Jenkins Greenwood; a sister, Kathleen Hamme; two brothers, Weldy and Dale Greenwood and a special son-in-law, Tony Phillips. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church by Brother Barlow Stanley and the Rev. Raleigh Burnette. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Moody-Davis Funeral Home on Tuesday from 6 to 8 pm where his body will remain until time to be carried to the church to lie-in-state thirty minutes prior to the service. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the many friends and neighbors for their every act of kindness.
