Lonnie Gray Haynes

Mr. Lonnie Gray Haynes, 67, of 281 Airport Road, Mount Airy, passed away Sunday morning, July 8, 2012, at his home. Mr. Haynes was born July 14, 1944, in Surry County, the son of the late Alexander and Georgia Faye Boyd Haynes. Lonnie retired as a shipping clerk from Cross Creek Apparel after 37 years of service. He is survived by a daughter, April Haynes Corder of Mount Airy; a son, Damien Alexander Haynes and his special friend, Jennifer Wagoner, of Mount Airy; five grandchildren, Joshua Boyd, Tabatha Corder, Timothy "T.J." Corder, Krystyn Haynes, Damien "D.J." Haynes, Jr.; three great-grandchildren; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Betty and Troy Hodges, Bonnie Quesinberry, and Ruth Goins, all of Mount Airy; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Richard and Linda Haynes and Pete and Gloria Haynes, all of Mount Airy; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Haynes was preceded in death by a sister, Katherine "Kat" Haynes Sawyers; a brother, Sanford Haynes; and two brothers-in-law, W.R. Quesinberry and Sammy Goins. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, July 11, 2012, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Butch Holder officiating. Burial will follow in The Peoples Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
