Loretta Virginia (Hicks) Edwards

Ms. Loretta Virginia Hicks Edwards, age 69 of King, passed away on Friday, May 27, 2022, at Village Care of King.  Ms. Edwards was born on March 5, 1953, in Roanoke, Virginia to the late Charlie Wilton and Ella Jean Dixon Hicks.  Loretta was a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend.  She will be deeply missed by all that knew her.  Left to cherish her memories are her two daughters and sons-in-law, Anna Edwards Marshall and Elder Rodney Marshall; Caroline Edwards Kavanagh and Elder Jonathan Kavanagh; three sons and daughters-in-law, David Edwards and Kathi, Marcus Edwards and Kyndra, Duane Edwards and Jennifer; fifteen grandchildren, Matthew Lawson-Horton, Corey Marshall, Abe Edwards, Lawrence Marshall, Nathan Edwards, Alyssa Horton-Michie, Joseph Marshall, Elijah Edwards, Hope Edwards, Neal Marshall, Ian Kavanagh, Matthew Edwards, Abigail Edwards, Jacob Edwards, Adam Edwards, Daniel  Marshall; great-grandchildren, Elly, Eleanor, Alex, Spencer, Carter, Mason; two sisters, Linda Hicks Snavely and Tim, Ruth Ann Anderson; two brothers and sister-in-law, Charles Hicks, James Hicks and Sue; special friend and “sister”, Barbara Debnam; along with many nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, Ms. Edwards was preceded in death by her late ex-husband and father of her children, Elder David Edwards; one sister, Mary Spencer; three brothers, Albert Hicks, Richard Hicks, and Kelly Hicks.  A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 30, 2022, 11:00 AM at Old Orchard Primitive Baptist Church, 1035 Old Orchard Church Road, Westfield, North Carolina 27053 with Elder Rodney Marshall officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 29, 2022, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Old Orchard Primitive Baptist Church.  The family would like to extend a special heartfelt thanks to the staff of Village Care of King who was mamas extended family for their loving care for Ms. Edwards.  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
