Ms. Lorraine Tolbert Phillips, 68, of 436 Fireside Lane, Mount Airy, passed away Wednesday morning, March 12, 2014, at her home. Ms. Phillips was born February 6, 1946, in Surry County, the daughter of the late Walter Jackson and Thelma Mae Tolbert Phillips. Lorraine worked at Armtex Inc. in Pilot Mountain for many years and also worked at Hardee's Restaurant in Dobson. Ms. Phillips was a member of The Community Church. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Michael Jones of Mount Airy; a son and daughter-in-law, James and Ann Brooks of King; three grandchildren, Keith Thomas and his fiancée, Beth Reece, Lori Outlaw and her husband, Donnie Outlaw, and Anthony Brooks; three great-grandchildren, Dalyion Thomas, Molly Thomas, and Brooklynn Thomas; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and Phil Sias of Mount Airy and Jenny and General King of King; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Harry and Frances Phillips of Mount Airy and John Phillips of Westfield; and her special friends from The Community Church. In addition to her parents, Ms. Phillips was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Phillips. The funeral service will be held Saturday, March 15, 2014, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Ray Hutson officiating. Burial will follow in the True Vine Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
