Louella Marie Hawks Grimes

Mrs. Louella Marie Hawks Grimes, 65, of 236 Country Club Road, Mount Airy, passed away Monday morning, April 27, 2009, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mrs. Grimes was born August 13, 1943, in Carroll County, VA, to the late Loyde Burton and Venturia Hawks Hawks. She retired as an administrative assistant from Cross Creek Apparel after 31 years of service and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband of 25 years, James C. Grimes of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Richard May of Spencer, IN; a son, Mitch Surratt of Mount Airy; four grandchildren, Amber May and Chip May, both of Spencer, IN, and Lane Surratt and Justin Surratt and his wife, Samantha, all of Mount Airy; and two brothers and a sister-in-law, Loyde and Edith Hawks of Cana, VA, and Carroll Hawks. The funeral service will be held Thursday, April 30, 2009, at 2:00 PM at Calvary Baptist Church, with the Rev. David Burgess officiating. Entombment will follow in the Skyline Memory Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends Thursday from 12:30 to 2:00 PM at Calvary Baptist Church.
