Lt. Col. James Stuart Love

Lt. Col. James Stuart Love, age 82 of Stuart passed away Tuesday at Forsyth Medical Center after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was born in Patrick County on Aug. 31, 1930 to the late James G. Love and the late Delcie Bateman Love. Lt. Col. Love was a graduate of Blue Ridge High School, Virginia Polytechnic Institute, and the University of Colorado. He was retired from the U.S. Air Force having served in the Vietnam War. He was raised a Master Mason in 1959 in New Hampshire while he was in the military and was a member of Mountain Home Lodge #263 where he had been Worshipful Master in 1991 and Secretary from 1992-2010. He was a member of CCDF Volunteer Fire Dept where he served as Treasurer, and he was also a member of Creasey's Chapel United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Jacquelyn M. Love of the home; three sons, J. Scott Love of Houston, TX, Col. Jon C. Love of Lansdale, PA, Major Jeffrey D. Love of Prattville, AL; 8 grandchildren; two brothers, C. Jerry Love of Claudville, Ronnie B. Love of Roanoke; and one sister, Mary Francis Turner of Roanoke.
The family will receive friends Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012 at Creasey's Chapel United Methodist Church from 1-4 PM. All other services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society c/o Charmaine Atkins, P O Box 10, Claudville, VA 24076. Moody Funeral Home in Stuart is assisting the family.
