Lucille "Wavey" Palmer Mabry
Mrs. Lucille “Wavey” Palmer Mabry, 96, of Mount Airy, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, March 11, 2024. She was born November 19, 1927, in Patrick County, VA, the daughter of the late John Preston and Lethia Smith Palmer. Wavey retired from Quality Mills after 34 years of service, where she served as plant manager. Mrs. Mabry was a longtime member of Haymore Memorial Baptist Church. She is survived by her children, William L. “Bill” Mabry, Jr. (Sonia), Susan Elizabeth Mills (Steve), Betsy E. Mabry, and Carles Mabry (Danajean); her grandchildren, Will Mabry (Sabrina), Triston Mabry, Heather Ratermann (Nathan), Alexius Lipot (Jason), Jacob Mabry (Abby), J.P. Mabry (Dana), and Adam Mabry (Mariah); her great-grandchildren, Gabriello Guerrero, Phoenix Wierzba, Gavin Guerrero, Izabel Ratermann, Anabel Ratermann, Skye Lipot, Luke Mabry, Maya Santana, Lily Mabry, Maddie Santana, Aura Lipot, Grace Mabry, and Emery Mabry; and her sisters, Edith Thomas and Mary Cox. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Mabry was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, William Lloyd Mabry, Sr.; three grandchildren, William Mills, James Mills, and Cortney Guerrero-Santana; her stepmother, Eva Palmer; her sister, Ruth Beasley; and her brother, Lee Palmer. The funeral service will be held Friday, March 15, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Haymore Memorial Baptist Church, with the Rev. Robert McCrary and the Rev. Kevin Minix officiating. Interment will follow at Oakdale Cemetery. The family will visit with friends on Thursday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to Haymore Memorial Baptist Church, P.O. Box 27, Mount Airy, NC 27030; or Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, P.O. Box 325, Dobson, NC 27017.
