Mae Johnson Riggs

Mrs. Mae Johnson Riggs, 89, of Dobson, passed away Saturday morning, October 25, 2014, at her home. Mrs. Riggs was born August 13, 1925, in Surry County, one of four children born to the late David Lee and Nelia Whitaker Johnson. Mae was a homemaker and a member of Stony Knoll United Methodist Church. She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Cheryl and Dennis Hunter of Pfafftown and Gayla Riggs and her special friend, Greg White, of Dobson; a son and daughter-in-law, Rene and Mary Riggs of Tobaccoville; and two grandsons, Daniel Riggs and Evan Riggs, both of Tobaccoville. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Riggs was preceded in death by her husband, William Elmer Riggs; and three brothers, Clingman Lee Johnson, Charlie Anderson Johnson, and Paul Russell Johnson. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, October 28, 2014, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Jim Lawton officiating. Burial will follow in the Stony Knoll United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at the funeral home.
