Margaret Elizabeth Dowdy

Mrs. Margaret Elizabeth Bowman Dowdy, 91, of Mount Airy passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2023, at her home surrounded by her loving family.  Mrs. Dowdy was born in Patrick County, Virginia on November 9, 1931, to the late Dewey Lee and Martha Ann Hall Bowman.  She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who will be missed by her family and all who knew her.  Mrs. Dowdy was a member of Flat Rock Pentecostal Holiness Church.  She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Phillip Langford; a son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Cathy Dowdy; eleven grandchildren; twenty-five great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; a sister and brothers-in-law, Frances and Weldon Tobler, Roy Haymore; a sister-in-law, Louise Bowman; many nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Dowdy was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Joseph Dowdy, Sr.; sons, Cecil Joseph Dowdy, Jr., Michael Lee Dowdy, and Timmy Dowdy; a great grandchild, Aaron Steven Dowdy; sisters, Gladys Bowman Byrd, Lillie Bowman, Mildred Bowman Bateman, Rose Bowman Haymore; brothers, Rev. John D. Bowman, Rev. Homer Arthur Bowman.  A funeral service will be held Monday, February 6, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. David Sparks officiating.  Entombment will follow in Skyline Memory Gardens Mausoleum.  The family will receive friends Sunday night from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.  Online condolences may be made at www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
