Margaret Virginia Walker Hetzer

Mrs. Margaret Virginia Walker Hetzer, 96, of Mount Airy, passed away Thursday afternoon, March 6, 2014, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mrs. Hetzer was born July 15, 1917, in Covington, VA, the daughter of the late Clarence Emmett and Arsie Mae Robertson Walker. Margaret retired from National Security Agency in 1968 and was a member of Central United Methodist Church. She was also a longtime member of the Ladies' Auxiliary of VFW Post 2019 of Mount Airy. She is survived by a stepdaughter and her husband, Pamela and Jack Graham of Bristow, VA; a grandson, Russell Emmett "Rusty" Graham of Bristow, VA; a sister, Christine Walker Hawks of Mount Airy; several nieces and nephews; a host of special friends; and a special caregiver, Pat Willard. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hetzer was preceded in death by her husband, Emmett "Barney" Hetzer, Jr.; and seven brothers, William Walker, Edward Walker, Clarence Emmett Walker, Jr., Alfred Walker, Robert Walker, Percy Walker, and Frederick Walker. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 12, 2014, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Jim Pyatt and the Rev. Phillip Cole officiating. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home, and other times at the home of Christine Walker Hawks, 165 Lyn Avenue, Mount Airy.
