Marion Louise Heald

Mrs. Marion Louise Heald, 86, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, died Monday, January 6, 2014, in Chesapeake, VA. Mrs. Heald was a longtime resident of Mount Airy, NC. Mrs. Heald was born January 25, 1927, in Aurora, IL, the daughter of the late William and Sophia Ross. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her dear husband of 48 years, John Heald; and her beloved brother, William Ross. A graduate of Coe College and a lifetime member of Alpha XI Delta Sorority, Mrs. Heald was a kitchen designer prior to marriage. She later became a restaurateur of C'est Cheese located in Mount Airy, NC, and was also an active volunteer, serving the Surry Arts Council, Northern Hospital of Surry County, Pinehurst Memorial Hospital, and Habitat for Humanity. She leaves behind two loving daughters, Roslyn Reeves and her partner, Dean Joyce, of Germanton, NC, and Robin Cox and her partner, Paul Carder, of Chesapeake, VA; three devoted grandchildren, Louisa Smith and her partner, Jerry Bennett, of Mount Airy, NC, Jamie Danley of Mount Airy, NC, and Crystal Cox of Norfolk, VA; and her cherished great-grandchildren, Brian, John, and Franklin Bennett, all of Mount Airy, NC, Hunter Largen of Mount Airy, NC, and Sophia and Marlon Maxwell of Norfolk, VA. Many thanks to the caring staff and residents at RidgeCrest and Beth Sholom Village for making a comfortable and loving home to Mrs. Heald her last 7 years. A memorial graveside service will be held Sunday, January 12, 2014, at 2:00 PM at Skyline Memory Gardens in Mount Airy, NC, with Father Raymond Hanna officiating. There will be no formal visitation at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation, 322 Eighth Avenue, 7th Floor, New York, NY 10001; or Habitat for Humanity, 813 Merita Street, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
