Mr. Mark Robertson Freeman, 56, of 244 Forest Knoll Drive, Mount Airy, passed away Wednesday night, September 2, 2015, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mr. Freeman was born May 9, 1959, in Surry County, one of five sons born to Robert Eldridge and Georgia Johnson Freeman. Mark worked as a dispatcher at Hardy Brothers Inc. and was a member of Mayberry Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Elizabeth "Liz" Chappell Freeman of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Jessica and Aric Norby of Winston-Salem; a son and daughter-in-law, Justin and Jennifer Freeman of Mount Airy; a granddaughter, Addison Freeman of Mount Airy; his parents, Robert Eldridge and Georgia Johnson Freeman of Mount Airy; four brothers and three sisters-in-law, Mitchell and Mary Ann Freeman, Phil Freeman, and Brad and Kim Freeman, all of Mount Airy, and Scott and Jill Freeman of Woodlawn, VA; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Lisa and Eric Combs of Mount Airy; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Freeman was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Barbara Leftwich Freeman; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jim and Faye Arrington Chappell. The funeral service will be held Saturday, September 5, 2015, at 2:00 PM at Salem Baptist Church, with Dr. Craig Edwards officiating. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Salem Baptist Church. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the Freeman family.
