Mark Anthony Smith

Mr. Mark Anthony Smith, 62, of Mt. Airy passed away Monday, July 3, 2023, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson.  He was born in Surry County on September 22, 1960, to James Smith and the late Betty Jean Rakes Smith.  Mr. Smith was of the Baptist faith.  He was a loving husband, father, and Pa who will be dearly missed.  He loved fishing, trading and spending time with his family.  In addition to his father, Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Debbie Hooker Smith; a daughter, Heather Smith; a son, Dusty Smith and fiancée Katlin Johnson; grandchildren, Kole Smith and fiancée Carleigh Lovill, Jayden Smith, Demi Johnson, Ramsey Johnson; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ginger and Delma Beck, Robin and Roger Thomas, Cindy and Greg Hiatt; a brother and sister-in-law, Rev. Steve and Janie Smith; many nieces and nephews.  A funeral service will be held Saturday, July 8, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Temple Baptist Church with the Rev. Zane Fishel officiating.  Burial will follow in the Peoples Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Saturday from 12:00 until 2:00 PM at the church.  The family would like to give a special thank you to Kenny Hooker, Surry County EMS, and Mountain Valley Hospice for their care and support.  Online condolences may be made at www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
