Martin Wayne Pelfrey

Mr. Martin Wayne Pelfrey, 55 of Mount Airy, passed away on Friday July 25, 2025, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem surrounded by loved ones. He was born April 15, 1970, in LaGrange County, IN to Violet Lou Crotts Pelfrey and the late Ben Martin Pelfrey. He was a 1988 graduate of North Surry High School and had worked in the auto industry for many years. Martin loved cars, fishing, hunting, cooking, and perfecting meats on his smoker. Martin had a knack for fixing just about anything – from cars to household projects. Left to cherish his memory are his sons and daughters-in-law Gavin and Lauren Pelfrey, and Jacob and Adriane Pelfrey; three precious grandchildren whom he loved wholeheartedly, Asher Pelfrey, Seneca Pelfrey and Max Pelfrey; his mother, Violet Pelfrey; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Tammy Gunter, and Jenny and Jeff Harvey; two nieces, Grace Gunter and Jackie Justice, and Taylor and Andrew Sawyers; three great nieces, Zoey Sawyers, Lily Sawyers, and Ella Jane Sawyers; one great nephew, Brody Sawyers; his girlfriend of over 10 years, Kristin Ross and her children, John Ross and Grace Ross; and many other family and friends. Funeral services will be held on Monday July 28, 2025, at 11:00am at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy with Pastor Jeff Cassell officiating. Burial will follow in the Edwards Family Cemetery in Cana, VA. The family will receive friends on Monday at Moody’s from 10:00 – 11:00am. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
