Marvin William White

Mr. Marvin William White, 79, of Mount Airy, passed away Wednesday, August 13, 2008, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Mr. White was born March 10, 1929, in Surry County, to Coy and Flora Corder White. He was a retired building contractor and a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Irene Nichols White of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Yvonne and John Edwards of Mount Airy; three sons and daughters-in-law, Stan and Gloria White of Mount Airy, Garry and Linda White of Bassett, VA, and Clark and Joan White of Dobson; a grandson, Michael Lawrence of Charlotte; a granddaughter, Stephanie McCann and husband, Michael, of Dobson; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Reecie and Bill Johnson of Dobson and Naomi and Clinton Watson of Morganton; a brother and sister-in-law, Clifford and Gladys White of Dobson; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. White was preceded in death by a grandson, Jeffrey Lawrence. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, August 16, 2008, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Chris Dotson, and burial will follow in the Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 1:00 until the time of the service at the funeral home.
