Mrs. Mary Lou Anders passed away June 11, 2025 at Central Continuing Care in Mount Airy, NC. She was born September 25, 1928 to Levi and Mary Hamm. She married her beloved husband on June 28, 1946. Born to this union were three sons, Billy Gene Anders of Lambsburg, VA , Barry Dewayne Anders of Mount Airy, Dicky Thomas Levi (Kathy) of Mount Airy; one daughter, Vicky Joy (Polly) Wilcox (Wayne) of Richmond, KY. She had 7 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren which she loved dearly. Marylou and Newton began their pastoral ministry in 1962 through 2008. After having a massive heart attack in 2008 they moved in with their daughter in Greenville, NC. Mary Lou worked hard in the children’s ministry. She was a Gleanor leader, Sunday school teacher and a missionary leader. She tried her best to do well at anything that was asked of her. Mary Lou was a woman of so many talents, she wrote many songs, being able to play many different instruments such as the accordion while walking up and down the aisle of the church and singing their favorite song “I Woke Up This Morning Feeling Fine”, she and Newton made and painted wooden crafts for many years. Mary Lou and Newton were a blessing to everyone, she was a wonderful pastor’s wife, friend, mother, grandmother. She was a true model of the virtuous women in Proverbs 31 of the Bible. She will truly be missed. In addition to her parents, Mary Lou is preceded in death by her husband Newton, one brother and two sisters; daughter-in-law and one son-in-law . Mary Lou spent her last year at Central Continuing Care in Mount Airy. Her family would like to thank the staff at Central Continuing Care for the loving care they provided for her during her stay, they were so kind and loving. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 14th at 11:00 at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy with Rev. Donnie Estep of Richmond, KY and Rev. Thomas Bailey of Mount Airy officiating. Visitation will be held Friday, June 13th from 4:00 ~ 6:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.
