Ms. Tate was born July 7, 1959, in Surry County, to Clara Grimes Golding and the late Clay Golding. A hardworking and dedicated woman, Mary Anne spent 30 years faithfully employed with Spencer’s Inc., where she was known for her strong work ethic, reliability, and the friendships she built over the years. She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Sarah Aman and Shannon and the Rev. Anthony Smith; five grandchildren, Blake Smith, Madison Smith, Hayla Smith, Jeshua Aman, and Jessiah Aman; her mother, Clara Grimes Golding; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Leona and Chris Moore, Vicky and Jeff Moore, and Dana Edwards and John Ferrell; four brothers and a sister-in-law, Michael Golding and his fiancée, Maranda McMillian, Jody Golding, Bobby and Angie Golding, and David Golding; many nieces and nephews; her former husband of 30 years and father of her children, John Tate; and a special friend, Judy Barnes. In addition to her father, Ms. Tate was preceded in death by a brother, Rocky Golding; and a special grandmother, Rena Grimes. The funeral service will be held Friday, April 3, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Garry Allen officiating. Burial will follow in the Skyline Independent Baptist Church Cemetery, under the direction of the Rev. Anthony Smith.
