Mary Edith Hawks Bobbitt

Mrs. Mary Edith Hawks Bobbitt, 82, of 1149 Glendale Road, Apt. 11, Galax, VA, passed away Thursday, July 3, 2008, at Twin County Regional Hospital in Galax, VA. Mrs. Bobbitt was born March 28, 1926, in Carroll County, VA, daughter of the late Troy and Mamie Stantliff Hawks. She retired from Quality Mills. Surviving are her husband, Kennie Bobbitt of the home; a son and two daughters-in-law, Johnny and Gail Williams and Geraldine Williams, all of Galax, VA; three stepdaughters, Sandra Garrett and Linda McClokin, both of VA, and Elaine Meek of SC; two stepsons, Nelson Bobbitt and spouse, Betty, of Winston-Salem and Charles Bobbitt of Richmond, VA; four grandchildren, Clifton Williams, Randy Williams and spouse, Tammy, Chuck Williams, and Christi Ayers and spouse, Jamie, all of Galax, VA; two great-grandchildren, Allison Ayers and Sarah Ayers, both of Galax, VA; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Jessie Eaton and Shirley and Charlie Hawks, all of Mount Airy, and Pat and Glenn Collins of Lambsburg, VA; a brother and two sisters-in-law, Don and Rachel Hawks and June Hawks, all of Mount Airy; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bobbitt was preceded in death by a son, Ronnie Williams; a sister, Faye Stoneman; and two brothers, Ray Hawks and Ralph Hawks. The funeral service will be held Sunday, July 6, 2008, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy. The service will be conducted by Brother Charlie Hawks, Brother Gary Adams, and Brother Gene Hill, and burial will follow in the Hawks Family Cemetery in Lamsburg, VA. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
