Mary Lou Cook Gibson

Mrs. Mary Lou Cook Gibson Age 79 of Mount Airy, NC. passed away Wednesday July 16, 2014 at the Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mrs. Gibson was born November 19, 1934 in Grayson County, Va. to the late Charlie Cook and Ethel Cockerham Cook Liddle. She was retired from Cross Creek Apparel in Mt. Airy and was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church. Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Laura and Rick Brintle of Mt. Airy and Diane and Ricky Hicks of Ararat, NC., one son and daughter-in-law Kent Gibson, Jr. and wife Sharron of Raleigh, six grandchildren Susan and Kevin Jones of King, Meg Gibson and fiancé Brandon Sargent, Sarah Gibson and Justin Gibson all of Raleigh, Chase Brintle and Maleigha Brintle both of Mt. Airy, two great grandchildren Taylor Jones and Peyton Jones both of King, one brother and sister-in-law Darrell and Karen Liddle of Indian Head, MD. and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents Mrs. Gibson was preceded in death by her husband Kent Gibson, Sr., her daughter Wendy Pappas, a grandson David Hicks, a sister Doris Edwards and by her stepfather George Liddle. A memorial service will be held Sunday July 20, 2014 at 2 P.M. at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mt. Airy with services conducted by Rev. Ray Hanna. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:00 P.M. until time for the service at the funeral home. The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff on the step down unit of Northern Hospital of Surry County, to the Hospitalist and to Dr. Roger Kerley for all their love and care shown to Mary Lou during her lengthy illness.
