Mary Lee Gravely

Miss Mary Lee Gravely, age 92, of Mt. Airy, passed away on Tuesday, April 18, 2023, at her home.  She was born in Surry County on March 4, 1931, to the late Robert and Nellie Matthews Gravely.  Miss Gravely retired from Spencer’s Inc. after 47 years of services.  She was a very kind person, always helping others.  She was very dedicated to her church and her family and will be lovingly remembered by all who knew her.  Left to cherish her memories are nieces, Beth Dean (David), Karen Furr (Neil); nephews, Wayne Gravely (Ann), Jim Gravely (Donna); great-nieces, Susan Gravley, Stephanie Carhart (Justin), Katey Dean, Waynette Johnson (Jimmy); great-nephews, Dylan Gravley, Daniel Furr, Daniel Gravely (Deanna), Bruce Gravely (Aubrie); Jonah Gravely; Barry Gravely (Jane); Jason Gravely; Matthew Gravely and Lucas Gravely.  In addition to her parents, Miss Gravely was preceded in death by a sister, Betty McHone; brothers, Paul Gravley and Ralph Gravely.  A memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 20, 2023, at 3:00 PM at Salem United Methodist Church with services conducted by Elder Wayne Gravely, Rev. Jack Danley, and Rev. Dr. Steve Rainey.  A private burial will take place at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice or to Salem United Methodist Church in honor of Miss Gravely.  Online condolences may be made at www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
