Mary Katherine Greer Elliott

Mrs. Mary Katherine Greer Elliott, 71 of White Plains formally of West Jefferson, NC, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loved ones on Tuesday evening, August 18, 2026. She was born in Delaware, February 20, 1955, to Myrtle Dancy Shatley and the late Earl Roosevelt Greer. Kathy retired from the childcare industry after many loving years. Mrs. Elliott was a lover of NASCAR, especially Chase Elliott. Mrs. Elliott is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, Teddy Raymond Elliott; her daughter and son-in-law, Angie and Dean Hembree; grandson, Jake Hembree; great-granddaughter, Kylah Hembree; her mother, Myrtle Dancy Shatley; sister, Carol Sullins; niece, April Potter; great niece, Jordan Potter; her church family of Canaan’s Shore Old Regular Baptist Church; and her special grand-pup, Charlie. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at White Plains Friends Meeting at 11:00am with Preacher Chris Newsom and Preacher Shad Newsome officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday at the church from 10:00 until 11:00. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
