Mary M. Hairston

       Mrs. Mary M. Penn Hairston, age 97 of Stuart, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at her home.  She was born in Patrick County on July 17, 1924, to the late Vallie Walker Penn and May Bell Cobb Penn.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Hairston; two children, Willie Sanders Penn and Mary Ellen Hairston; and three sisters, Laura “Lillie” Nowlin, Lucy Green Hylton and Elizabeth Hagwood. She was a loving wife, mother, grandma, and friend and was very devoted to her husband, kids, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

       Mrs. Hairston is survived by eleven grandchildren, Cindy Penn, Venson Hairston, Pedro Penn, April Penn, Katrina Hairston, Pete Hairston, Kristie Penn, Patricia Hargrave, Rhonda Penn, Gregory Penn, and David Penn; eighteen great-grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
