Ms. Mary Joan Haynes, 53, of Dobson passed away peacefully on Saturday May 7, 2011 at Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Surry County on May 4, 1958 to the late William Edgar Haynes and Mary Lou Simmons Haynes. Ms. Haynes was retired from the Surry County School System and Surry Community College where she worked as an Interpreter for the deaf. She is survived by two sons, Steven and wife Casey Haynes of Pilot Mountain and Kevin Haynes of Dobson; her cherished grandchildren, Cooper Haynes, the "sunshine" of her life and his expectant brother; Devin Haynes and Colby Haynes; three sisters, Rita and husband, Russell Flippen of Winston-Salem, Kaye Harris and Angie Evans both of Walburg and Sheila Smith and fiancé Tim Karpik of Mount Airy; a brother, Ricky Haynes also of Mount Airy; her fiancé, Clark White of Dobson. A graveside service will be held at 2 pm on Monday May 9, 2011 at Fairview Baptist Church cemetery by Chaplin Robbie Vance. The family will receive friends at Moody-Davis Funeral Home on Monday from 12 noon until time to depart to the cemetery. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home 945 Zephyr Road Dobson, NC 27017.
