Mary Joanne (Jo) Minter Burnette, age 91 of Stuart left this earth for her eternal home on Monday, September 14, 2026, after a lengthy stay at Stuart Community Hospital. She was blessed by her family and many friends, especially the love of her life, Edwin L. Burnette. Jo loved to read, was an avid golfer and was a great mother for her four boys. She was a member of Stuart Baptist Church and served in many capacities.

She was preceded in death by her late parents, Oren L. and Jesse I. Minter of Axton, VA.; one sister, Frances Whyte of Atlanta; one brother, O.L. Minter, Jr. of Germany, as well as her husband of 46 years, Edwin L. Burnette.

Left to cherish her memory are her four boys, Edwin Oren (Eddie) Burnette and Mandy of Durham, NC., James Thomas (Tom) Burnette and Kathy of Oxford, NC, William Lyle (Bill) Burnette of Stuart, and Robert Lee (Bob) Burnette and Amy of Stuart. Five grandchildren, Charlotte Burnette and Geoff of Fairfax, VA, Sarah (Sally) Elizabeth Burnette of Boston, MA, Thomas Pullen (Sonny) Burnette and Morgan of Golden, CO, Sydnee Claire Burnette of Richmond, VA and Jarrod Edwin Burnette of Stuart, VA; two great-grandchildren, Calvin Higgins of Fairfax, VA and Stephen Burnette of Golden, CO.

A memorial service for Mrs. Burnette will be held on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at 12:00 P.M. at Moody Funeral Chapel with Pastor Allan Vass officiating. A private burial will follow in Lakeview Cemetery in Victoria, VA. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Donations may be to the charity of the donor’s choice in her memory.
