Mrs. Mary Bethel Lineberry Phillips, 81, of 103 Garden Terrace Apartments, Mount Airy, passed away Thursday afternoon, March 20, 2014, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mrs. Phillips was born February 15, 1933, in Grayson County, VA, the daughter of the late Floyd Thomas and Celia Ellen Davis Lineberry. Mary retired from Proctor-Silex Inc. after many years of service. She enjoyed watching Westerns and The Andy Griffith Show, in addition to playing the guitar and banjo. Mrs. Phillips was a member of White Plains Baptist Church. She is survived by three daughters and a son-in-law, Ethel Mae Goodson of King, Tryla Faye Goodson of Statesville, and Joyce Evelyn Goodson Edwards and David Edwards of Mount Airy; a son and daughter-in-law, Tranferd "Trent" Lonnie and Linda Susan Daye Goodson of Pilot Mountain; three grandchildren, Tonya Michelle Edwards Van Nieuwkoop and her husband, Eric, of Mount Airy, Tracy Michael Edwards and his wife, Autumn, of Pilot Mountain, and Robert Reid Goodson of Tifton, GA; twin great-grandsons, Derek Van Nieuwkoop and Darin Van Nieuwkoop; two additional great-grandchildren, Ashlyn Edwards and Caleb Edwards; a sister-in-law, Viola Edwards Lineberry of Trinity; several nieces and nephews; special caregivers, Penny Thomas and Judy Williams; and a special friend and TV buddy, Fred Loveland of Mount Airy. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Phillips was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur C. Phillips; four sisters, Cleadith Annie Lineberry, Artha Addline Lineberry Linville, Delpha Odessa Lineberry Green, and Rosie Glema Lineberry White; and two brothers, Arlis Elmer Lineberry and Robert Ernest Lineberry. The funeral service will be held Monday, March 24, 2014, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Rayton Puckett officiating. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Monday from 12:30 until 2:00 PM at the funeral home.
