Mary Ruth Bledsoe Beck, 93, of Dobson, North Carolina passed away Thursday. August 6, 2026. Born May 3, 1933, in Surry County to the late John William and Geneva Dinkins Bledsoe. Mary Ruth was a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church for several years. A loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister and friend. “Mammy” will be dearly missed by all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, joy, faithfulness, selflessness and kindness. Left to cherish her memory is her sons and daughter-in-law, Terry Beck and Ellen, Ricky “Gabby” Beck, Tony Beck, and Pamela Beck; grandchildren, Nick Beck, Tommy Beck, Leeann Beck, Bradley Beck, Joanie Beck, Holly Holbrook, and Alex Beck; great grandchildren, Mattie Bruner and Wes, and Gracie Turner; and great-great grandchild, Ezdeth Eaton, and one on the way. Along with her parents, Mary Ruth is preceded in death by her husband, Carl Andrew Beck; daughter, Charlotte Beck; son, James “Tank” Beck; grandchild, Brandon Holbrook; great grandchildren, Chance Beck, and Nathan Turner; and 13 siblings. A graveside funeral service will be held Sunday, August 9, 2026, at 2:00 PM in the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Curtis Ponder officiating. The family would like to extend special thanks to the Skilled Nursing Unit at Northern Regional Hospital for their exceptional care of their “Mammy.”
