Mrs. Mattie “Marie” Gammons Chamberlain, 93, of Mt. Airy went home to be with her lord and savior Jesus Christ, and her loving husband of 59 years on her birthday Saturday, July 6, 2019, at Central Containing Care in Mt. Airy. She was born in Davidson County on July 6, 1926, to the late Ezra and Velva Johnson Gammons. Mrs. Chamberlain retired from Adam-Millis, and was a faithful member of Woodville Baptist Church. She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Joyce and Melvin Gillespie, of Dobson, Kathleen and Victor Pyles, Jr. of Winston Salem; sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Kathy Chamberlain of Zuni, VA, Wade and Ruth Chamberlain of Mt. Airy, Richard Chamberlain of the home; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Stacie and Fred Dupree of Mt. Airy; special nieces and nephew. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Chamberlain was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse “Jess” Chamberlain; a sister, Irene Marshall; brothers, Troy Gammons, JT Gammons. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, July 9, 2019, at 11:00 AM at Woodville Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Victor Pyles officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 10:00 until 11:00 AM at the church. In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Woodville Baptist Church c/o Terry Inman, 5108 Westfield Rd., Mt. Airy, NC 27030. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Central Continuing Care, and the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice for the love and care given to Marie. Moody Funeral Home in Mt.
