Maude Sara Golding Smith

Mrs. Maude Sara Golding Smith, 93, of 2674 West Pine Street, Mount Airy, passed away Saturday, July 29, 2006, at her home. Mrs. Smith was born September 16, 1912, in Surry County, to the late Parley and Lula Dawson Golding. She was a homemaker and a member of Antioch Baptist Church. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Jim Edwards of Mount Airy; a son and daughter-in-law, Billy and Peggy Smith of Mount Airy; six grandchildren, Sylvia Gentry, Cathy Lovill, Sharon Hardy, and Gregory Smith, all of Mount Airy, Tammy Greene of King, and Lee Johnson of Galax, VA; twelve great grandchildren; and five brothers and three sisters-in-law, C.R. Golding, Garnett and Carrie Golding, Bill and Mary Hope Golding, Ed and Gladys Golden, and Tommy Golding, all of Mount Airy. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Troy Porter Smith; a son and daughter-in-law, Carl Ray and Maurine Smith; a son-in-law, Otis Johnson; two sisters, Hattie Mae Hale and Rachel Hemmings; and a brother, Tobe Golding. The funeral service will be held Monday, July 31, 2006, at 2:00 PM at Antioch Baptist Church. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Dale Wallace, the Rev. Clarence Marshall, and the Rev. Tony Holder. Burial will follow in the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.
