Mrs. Maxie Mae "Mack" Boyles Southern, 85, of 4878 NC 268, Dobson, passed away Wednesday, April 1, 2015, at her home. Mrs. Southern was born September 9, 1929, in Surry County, one of ten children born to the late Hubert and Minnie Shinault Boyles. Maxie was the bookkeeper and Notary Public at Southern's Used Car for 58 years. She was also a loving homemaker and a devoted member of Pine Hill Friends Meeting, where she taught Sunday school and sang in the church choir. She is survived by a daughter, Cindy Southern Marion of Dobson; a son and daughter-in-law, Craig and Eva Southern of Mount Airy; four grandchildren, Will Marion of Nashville, TN, Peyton Marion and Jack Marion, II, both of Dobson, and Amanda Fletcher and her husband, Chris, of King; two great-grandchildren, Cassidee Fletcher and Jackson Fletcher, both of King; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Martha Rose and Jackie Lane of Advance and Claudia and Jimmy Anthony of Siloam; a brother, Wesley H. Boyles, Sr. of Siloam; two sisters-in-law, Faye Johnson of Salisbury and Gladys Boyles of Cana, VA; two brothers-in-law, Rex Fulk of Siloam and Marvin Bledsoe of Siloam; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Southern was preceded in death by her husband, R.B. Southern; four sisters, Buena Powers, Dorothy Gallimore, Polly Fulk, and Jessie Bledsoe; and two brothers, J.C. Boyles and Jerry Boyles. The funeral service will be held Saturday, April 4, 2015, at 2:00 PM at Pine Hill Friends Meeting, with the Rev. Wesley H. Boyles, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to Pine Hill Friends Meeting, c/o Holly McCraw, 576 Quaker Church Road, Siloam, NC 27047.
